Diferença de tempo interaural
O som propaga-se no ar a uma velocidade de aproximadamente 343 metros por segundo. Se um som vier do teu lado direito, ele vai atingir o teu ouvido direito primeiro.
Diferença de intensidade interaural
Quando o som bate na cabeça, cria-se uma "sombra acústica" do lado oposto. Isso significa que o som que chega ao ouvido esquerdo ou direito não só chega mais tarde (ITD), como chega mais fraco (com menos volume).
Função de Transferência Relativa à Cabeça
Antes de entrar no canal auditivo, a onda sonora bate e faz ricochete nos ombros, no crânio e, principalmente, nas curvas e dobras da orelha externa (o pavilhão auricular).
