1. Library Closing
All library books are due by May 22, 2026.
2. Summer Reading Lists
If you are planning to assign a reading list this summer, please send it to me ASAP.
3. Consummable Textbooks
Discard any conummable textbooks that your students have used.
4. Subject Area Textbooks
Please leave any textbooks you have on your shelves.
5. CTE Textbooks
New procedure is on the way!
Books Due May 22
Every year the media specialist should take inventory. That means scan each book on the shelf. In order to have an accurate inventory I need all of the books back in the library. All books are due by May 22, 2026. I'll begin inventory May 26, 2026.
Subject Area Textbooks
If you are teaching the same subject next year, please leave the textbooks in your classroom.Last summer I checked the books that were in your classroom. Please check LHS Textbooks by Classroom to ensure that the list is accurate.
Book Adoption - Per the district, we cannot discard any books until the new books arrive...whenever that may be. If they arrive before the end of the school year, we'll have the aide assist in the changeover.
Reading Lists
Under state statute HB 1467 (2022), books on recommended/assigned school reading list must be reviewed and approved by a certified district media specialist...that's me! Email your reading list to me as soon as you can.

Discard Consummables
Discard subject area consummable textbooks or send them home. McKinnon is very closer to the large scale disposal containers. Fun TIp: Have your students use the consumed textbooks to create giant building projects. It's low-tech, low-cost, and quite a bit of fun. There are lots of fun builds on Youtube like this Ball Run Challenge.
CTE Textbooks
If you have any textbooks that you use to teach your course, please let me know. Email me at thomascd@gm.sbac.edu. Each book should have a barcode. It is imperative that they are scanned into our system to ensure that our inventory is accurate. We can come up with a plan to get the books properly scanned, when you email me.
