We can recommend you some housing platforms that will help you in your search (see the table). If you prefer to find accommodation in university residences, we recommend RESA. You will find information about residences in the different UPC campus in the following link: https://resa.es/ IMPORTANT: UPC wants to warn you about an increasing number of alleged housing agencies that require PREVIOUS payment to provide a list of available apartments. Many of these agencies are not reliable and, after receiving the payment, they do not offer the stated services.
The public health system provides comprehensive coverage to those who have a contract in Spain. With your social security number and your "padró", you could go to your Primary Care Center-CAP (the one located nearby your domicile) to apply for the TSI card that will allow you to be assisted. You can also apply online through: https://catsalut.gencat.cat/ca/coneix-catsalut/acces-sistema-salut/la-tsi/obtencio-tsi/index.html#googtrans(ca|en) To know which CAP belongs to your address: https://catsalut.gencat.cat/ca/centres sanitaris/ For your family members, you should include them as beneficiaries of your Social Security number: https://prestaciones.seg social.es/servicio/asistencia sanitariagestion beneficiarios.html

This paragraph is ready to be filled with incredible creativity, experiences, and stories.
1. Homologation vs. Equivalence (Ministry of Universities)The correct procedure depends on whether your degree is for a regulated profession in Spain:
- Homologation: Only for degrees tied to regulated professions (careers that require an official Spanish degree to practice).
- Link: Homologation Procedure
- Declaration of Equivalence: For all other university degrees (if your degree is not on the regulated professions list).
- Link: Equivalence Procedure
2. Mandatory Steps Before ApplyingBefore starting either process, you must prepare your degree in this exact order:
- Legalization (depending on the country of issue):
- Hague Convention countries: You only need the Hague Apostille.
- Other countries: Diplomatic legalization (first, a stamp from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Justice of the issuing country, followed by a second stamp from the Spanish Consulate).
- Sworn Translation: Once legalized or apostilled, the document must get a sworn translation into Spanish.

the most urgent thing is the opening of a bank account cause it is not something immediate, it takes the banks a few days to review the delivered documents. You'll have to deliver to the chosen bank a copy of your passport, residence & work permit resolution and pre-contract (these documents should be enough, if they ask you for the TIE, you'll have to choose another bank as you won't have it yet). There are many ordinary banks: Caixabank, BBVA, Santander, Sabadell, ING, among others. However, as you would urgently need to accelerate this procedure, we recommend you to check the Spanish branches of the online banks like Revolut, Wise or N26 (more flexible than ordinary banks as per other experiences). You can start the procedure remotely and, if you can not finish it because of the ID verification process, you can continue it from here, the account would be activated in a matter of 48h approx. Finally, if you want to change it later on for an ordinary bank, you'll be able to do it.
Interactivity and animation can be your best allies when creating tables, infographics, or charts that help provide context to the topic or unit, as well as simplify information to make it more understandable. We are visual beings, and it is easier for us to 'read' images than to read written text.

Soon after your arrival, you will be able to contact the Consulate or Embassy of your home country. You will be able to register there as a citizen that is living abroad. You could need this registration, for example, to avoid double imposition, to vote remotely and also for emergency or security reasons. Some Consulates will require the "padró" so you can justify you live here.
Demonstrate enthusiasm, smile, and maintain eye contact with others in the classroom; these can be your best allies when presenting content and creating motivating learning experiences. With that and some interactive content to match, there's no class you can't conquer!

In Spain, it is compulsory that children attend school between the ages of 6 and 16, regardless of their administrative situation. After obtaining your "padró", you will be able to register your children in a public school. The public system offers the schools' availability according to some criteria, mainly distance but also other siblings in the corresponding school, etc. First and basic information is available in the following links:

PhD Equivalence ProcessIf you haven't worked in Spain as a postdoc before, you must process your PhD equivalence through UPC:
- Cost & Time: €218.15 / approx. 1 month.
- Document Requirements:
- Outside the EU: Must be legalized or apostilled.
- Translation: Must be a sworn translation into Catalan, Spanish, or English. (No translation needed if already in English; no legalization needed if issued in the EU).
- How to apply: Fill out the online application via the UPC Electronic Site.
- Contact: Reach out to Yolanda Manchón Estévez. She will guide you through the process and must review your original degree and passport at the end.
+ Info
If you are a sabbatical, there is no need for you to manage the arrangements explained in the main slide but
IMPORTANT: Your department would need to LINK you to the UPC as "Personal Vinculat" due to issues of civil liability, coverage and guarantee of damages to third parties. The procedure is explained at the following link: https://www.upc.edu/sri/ca/mobilitat/mobilitat-pdi/p_visitant/vinculat

Spanish tax legislation establishes a different tax for non-fiscal residents (IRNR) and for tax residents (IRPF). Without tax residence in Spain, 19% or 24% is applied to the worker, depending on whether they were fiscal residents in an EU country or in a non-EU country, respectively, immediately before their incorporation at UPC.
LINK
If you are interested that the UPC applies withholding according to IRPF, you could: - Deliver to the UPC the “accrediting document for the purposes of the obligation to make withholdings on work income in the event of a change of residence” after submitting to the Spanish Tax Agency model 147, having proven that you will be in Spain for the next 183 days. - Deliver to the UPC a “certificate of tax residence” in Spain, after having presented model 01 to the Spanish Tax Agency, having proven that you have lived in Spain for more than 183 days in a natural year.
