OCD creates impossible demands, a demand for so much cerntainity it's unreasonable or even impossible. That's where it is irrational to "obey" the demands OCD puts on us. Knowing that following that rabbit hole doesn't take us to a productive place, but rather into more fear, gives us the freedom and courage to begin to DEFY the demands OCD puts on us.

OCD is irrational in the sense that

What are we addressing when we address OCD and what makes OCD a problem?

Beating OCD is about how we handle thoughts. Are we handling thoughts in a balanced, healthy way, or are our responses allowing a thought or an action in response to a thought harrass us and steal from our lives? We are allowed to introspect, to receive real feedback and to apply that feedback to better ourselves for ourself and others, but when our thoughts or actions are no longer productive, we can ask and often know, “I’m responding in an obsessive and/or compulsive way. I know that’s not best.”

Identify

What’s the point of this module? To lower fear and panic and increase clarity instead. Restoring clarity immediately lowers fear. OCD thrives on confusion and urgency. Awareness breaks the illusion of necessity.

“It’s an OCD loop, not a real life problem!”

How do I know what I’m dealing with?

Notice “what if” language Identify urgency or pressure Ask: Is this demanding certainty or reassurance? (pressure for certainty) Label it: OCD loop detected

once we know what we’re identifying, it’s time to move on to the next step of conquering this intruder we call OCD. It’s time to implement “Disengage”.

Thoughts don’t need solving — they need non-engagement.

OCD WEAKENS WHEN:
