El día 7 de mayo, los chicos del instituto “Isabella D’Este” de Tivoli participaron en el evento “OLD BUT GOLD” en el parque de Rosmini de la ciudad. El evento forma parte de un proyecto Etwinning que consiste en buscar similitudes entre los juegos callejeros de Italia, España e Inglaterra, para descubrir la belleza de estar al aire libre y divertirse con juegos simples. El evento empezó a las 11 de la mañana; Una vez llegados y listos los chicos se dividieron en grupos y eligieron en qué juego participar. El primer grupo jugó a “balón envenenado”, en italiano “palla avvelenata”, juego típico de Italia y de España que existe también en Inglaterra, donde hay dos equipos: cada uno lanza el balón hacia los adversos; si estos últimos son golpeados deben ir a la cárcel de otros. Gana quien tiene a todos, o a la mayoría de los jugadores, en el campo. En contemporánea otro grupo jugó al “pañuelo” o “ruba bandiera”, que existe en los tres países: hay dos equipos y a cada miembro se asigna un número, al igual que se les asigna al equipo contrario; en el centro hay una persona que tiene un pañuelo y grita un número entre los presentes de los equipos. Los chicos que tienen aquel número deben correr a coger el pañuelo: el primero que lo coge y logra llevárselo a su lado sin que su contrincante le atrape, gana y así siguiendo. Una sola soga hizo que dos equipos se enfrentarán como en una verdadera lucha a sangre donde las caídas se convirtieron en carcajadas. Nombre del juego? ¡Seguro que lo habéis reconocido! WEl Juan de la Cierva plays : Old but Gold. Después de varios meses de preparación y trabajo en conjunto, la clase de 4ºA mostró los mejores juegos tradicionales en los que habían trabajado las semanas anteriores junto con el Liceo Isabella d’Este de Tivoli, Italia, la mañana del 13 de mayo. Los estudiantes españoles invitaron a otro grupo de 1º bachillerato y se repartieron por el patio del instituto para explicar en inglés y practicar los “mejores” juegos populares.
Estos una vez acabado el juego se rotaban a otro y así sucesivamente hasta que todos pudieron jugar a cada uno de ellos, siempre hablando en inglés y si había alguna duda de vocabulario ellos mismos solucionaban el problema, preguntando a la profesora o a entre ellos, a los de bachillerato o a alguien de su curso. Se lo pasaron muy bien con la experiencia y les habría guastado mucho repetirlo otro día. Fue muy enriquecedora a nivel educativo y social, conocieron a alumnos nuevos del centro y aprendieron nuevo vocabulario y a expresarse mejor entre ellos.
Fue un rato muy entretenido que les sirvió -palabras textuales- para “conocer a más gente” y para darse cuenta de que la mayoría tiene que seguir trabajando en su nivel de inglés. En cuanto a los juegos, hubo algunos muy interesantes como el dominó -típico en los hogares españoles- y otros más divertidos y que consiguieron desatar más risas como la gallinita ciega o el balón prisionero. En conclusión la experiencia les ha ayudado mucho a la hora del habla y expresarse, a la misma vez que a abrirse con nuevas personas y a perder la vergüenza en algunos casos, también a darse cuenta en qué ámbitos tienen que mejorar en el inglés y a poder ponerlos en práctica para que la próxima vez utilicen un inglés más fluido y cómodo para ellos.

Street Games: Learning Outdoors with eTwinning
This event, part of an eTwinning project, brought young people together to discover the joy of the outdoors and the similarities between traditional street games in Italy, Spain, and England.
From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the participants split into groups to enjoy several shared games:
Poison Ball (Balón envenenado / Palla avvelenata): A knockout game where players throw a ball to send opponents to "jail." The team with the most players left wins.
The Handkerchief Game (El pañuelo / Ruba bandiera): A test of speed and reflexes where players sprint to grab a handkerchief when their assigned number is called.
Tug of War and Skipping Rope: The two "European games" of the day. The first sparked fits of laughter during a fierce test of strength, while in the second, some girls practically "flew" over the rope.
Much More Than Just Fun
For the event's student journalists, it was clear that this was a complete educational experience. The participants shared that learning languages and culture without textbooks—and working alongside Spanish classmates—was both easy and incredibly fun.
Additionally, the project offered a tech bonus: as students like Sofia, Elisa, Teresa, and Marco pointed out, discovering Google Drive was key to communicating and collaborating safely as a team. A perfect way to learn by sharing!
After several months of preparation and joint work, the 4th grade class showed the best traditional games in those who had worked the previous weeks together with Liceo Isabella d'Este in Tivoli, Italy, on the morning of May 13th.
The Spanish students invited another group of 1st bachillerato and they headed to the patio of the institute to explain in English and practice the “best” popular games.
Once again the game is rotated to another and then everyone can play each one of them, always speaking in English and there is a certain vocabulary question that they can solve the problem by asking the teacher or each other, the teacher or the teacher. alguien de su curso.
