Charlotte Perkins Gilman's “The Yellow Wallpaper” is a gothic tale of a woman gone mad. Originally sent out to the country as part of a “rest cure,” the narrator soon becomes isolated and lonely as her husband cuts off her ties to the outside world. Not only that, but the room she is trapped in has a hideous, stinking, yellow wallpaper. While at first the paper is just an eyesore, eventually the narrator develops a delusion that a woman is trapped inside its repeating pattern. As the narrator's mental health worsens, her husband actually seems more pleased with her quiet and obedient behavior. This story explores feminism in the early 1900s and showcases themes like how a person's loss of freedom can be their downfall.Whatever you want!

Let's review!
O. Henry's “The Cactus” is a humorous short story in which the narrator reveals his complete arrogance and dishonesty. At the beginning, Trysdale has just come from his friend's sister's wedding (whom he was once involved with), and he is absolutely stumped. He cannot figure out why his love (the woman who just got married) is with someone else. Then, the narrator thinks back on their relationship. He thought that she admired him and his talents. She was even happily surprised by his ability to speak Spanish. Later, as a token of her affection, the woman drops off a gift for Trysdale—a small cactus with the tag Ventomarme. However, because Trysdale lied about his Spanish fluency, he did not understand that the gift was a sign that she did want to be with him.
This story teaches about the consequences of lying and showcases how regret can consume a person.
