Guiding students through digital clean-up, raising awareness about e-waste recycling, and creating useful products from recycled materials was especially important for promoting responsible technology use.

Sustainability

Encouraging students to communicate in English, listen to others, and actively participate helped them build confidence and engage more openly in project activities.

Confidence

The most valuable experience was collaborating with students through meetings, creating shared project products, a digital book, and developing a Green IT story and song.

Collaboration

Project Kick ‑ Off

  • The students prepared introductory presentations in which they introduced our school, city, country, and themselves to the other project participants.
  • They registered on the eTwinning platform and began collaboration and communication with students from partner countries.
  • Initial surveys were conducted among teachers, students, and parents to collect data on attitudes and habits related to ecology.
  • Each student created her own project logo and poster using Canva, and the best selected work was presented within the eTwinning community.

Key Project Outcomes

Strong collaboration and active participation – The project fostered international cooperation, teamwork, creativity, and active student engagement, resulting in meaningful learning experiences and lasting project outcomes.

Development of digital and environmental awareness – Students strengthened their digital skills while developing a deeper understanding of sustainability, responsible technology use, and environmental protection through interdisciplinary project activities.

From E‑Safety to Digital Responsibility

  • A survey was conducted to select the best logo and poster to represent the project.
  • The students created an e‑safety board as part of a joint activity focused on digital safety.
  • Using Wordwall, each student designed her own digital e‑safety game, such as crosswords, puzzles, and other educational tasks.
  • During this month, special emphasis was placed on raising awareness of digital pollution; we explored the topic, created forms, and collected data for further analysis.
  • The “Green Box” activity was launched, within which students and teachers began collaborative work on the visual identity using Canva.
  • Students actively communicated with one another on the project forum.

Wrapping Up Our Green IT Journey

  • The students celebrated eTwinning Day. Each participating country was assigned one letter, which students formed using their bodies in a coordinated outdoor activity. Our school was given the letter “T”, and together with students from other countries, we created the message “9th May – eTwinning Day.”
  • An e‑magazine was prepared as the final product of the project.
  • A project product exhibition was organized to present students’ work.
  • We asked project partners to mark the locations of planted saplings on a map to celebrate our Digital Cleanup winner and show our shared impact.
  • Individual student presentations were prepared and presented.
  • End‑of‑project surveys were conducted among teachers, parents, and students.
  • End‑of‑project activities also included a joint meeting of students and teachers, while games such as Kahoot and Quizizz were played to review and celebrate the project outcomes.

Creative Collaboration for a Greener Planet

  • On behalf of the winner of our Digital Cleanup event a memorial tree (an olive tree) was planted in the school garden.
  • Letter collage activity – each country was assigned one letter, which was created from recycled materials (such as cables and similar items). All letters will later be combined into a joint video product. The students also used ChatterPix to animate an avatar that says a sentence which will be included in the video, symbolically linking care for nature, creativity, and environmental awareness.
  • Writing a joint collaborative story – students were divided into three groups, and each group collaboratively wrote its own story while actively cooperating through the forum during the creative process.
  • We marked Earth Day (April 22). The students prepared a presentation and created a Model of Planet Earth using recycled materials and chia seeds, symbolically connecting care for nature, creativity, and environmental awareness.
  • Birdhouse creation from recycled materials – the students creatively repurposed recycled materials, giving them a new purpose by making birdhouses, thereby promoting environmental awareness and responsible waste management.

Turning Green Ideas into Action

  • The students created artworks from recycled materials (recycled assemblage), and all participants’ works were presented in a virtual exhibition
  • They also designed boxes for a recycling point, including the project logo and a QR code.
  • We marked Global Recycling Day (March 18).
  • All students took part in an online meeting where they introduced themselves and got to know each other.
  • Together, we wrote an acrostic poem titled “Green IT Project.” Our students were responsible for the letter T; they wrote their verse and sang it. All participants’ verses will be combined into one joint poem.
  • The students created the Green Box, which has begun its journey around the world.
