It tends to have a humid climated and it's affected by the East Asian monsoon, with rain heavier in summer during a short rainy season called jangma (Beginning of June - End of July)Winter temperatures are higher along the southern coast and lower in the mountainous area.Like Italy, it has four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn, and winter which last a similiar amount of time to Italy's seasons. The southern coast is subject to late summer typhoons that cause strong winds, heavy rains and sometimes even floods.

•South Korea is a peninsular nation in East Asia •is characterized by a largely mountainous landscape and distinct seasonal changes. •Roughly 70% to 75% of South Korea is covered by mountains. •The Taebaek Mountains form the "backbone" of the peninsula, running north-south along the eastern coast. •The Sobaek Mountains, instead, create an S-shape across the country. •The mountains are not particularly high. The highest peak on the mainland is Mount Jiri at 1,915 meters. •The highest overall point is the Hallasan volcano on Jeju Island (1,950 meters). •The terrain is higher in the east and slopes down to the west and south, which contain the majority of the country's small valleys and narrow coastal plains. •In the western and southern coasts there are over 3,000 islands and numerous bays.

The Korean conflict is an ongoing conflict based on the division of Korea between North Korea (also called the Democratic People's Republic of Korea) and South Korea (also called Republic of Korea). They both claim to be the only legitimate government of all of Korea In the Cold War, North Korea had the Soviet Union, China, and other communist allies on their side while South Korea had the United States, United Kingdom, and other Western allies.The division originally occurred in 1945 after the defeat of Japan ended the Japanese rule of Korea. North and South Korea, even after the war, continued a military standoff with periodic clashes.
