About me

I like comics and am heavily influenced by the art within them. The current absolute universe within DC has a variety of different art styles that leave an impact on me. Other comic artist also heavily influence me especially Green Latern and Silver Surfer comics with vast space backrounds.

Monster

1. The goal of the project was to make a friendly looking monster using tracing. 2.I used blue for the main color of the body and contrasted it by changing the eye color to red. 3.I did good on the fur texture on the monster. I could improve the horns shape and coloring. 4. I used the pen tool to trace the body and the shape tool for the teeth and eyes.

Silver Surfer(s)

1. The Goal was to try and build a powerful subject with a lacking space backround I could better design in future projects. 2. I made the subject alone in his travels throughout the loneliness of space. 3. I did good on the subject of the pieces but the backround is lacking. 4. I used many referances to help plan and draw the subject and his positioning within the pieces. I used gradients for the plants he passes by, and copy and paste for the stars.

Haunted House

1. The goal was to make a haunted mansion with minimal colors presented throughout the entire project, and subtle details within the backround. 2. The design choices were all purple, decides the contrasting light from inside the mansion and the moon, and subtle backround figures, these helped with the homogeny of the project. 3. I did well on the mansion shape, backround figures, and moon, however I would redesign the light coming from inside the mansion. 4. Most of the project used the pen tool, except for a little use of the shape tool and tracing for some of the backround characters.

Sunset

1. The goal of the project was to correctly use layer masks, layering, along with the erase tool. 2. I used a font that fit the vibe the picture gave off. I also matched up the width of the picture cutouts to fit the width of the letters. 3. I effectively use layer masks to seperated the pictures however I would try and blend the letters with the pictures better. 4. Built in rulers and layer masks were used to help map out the design so it was alligned and homogenous.

Galaxy

1. The goal of this project was to make better space backronds for future projects. 2. I made one nebula instead of many small ones to bring the focus to that area. I used 3 colors 2 shades of blue and one purple. 3. I did well on the stars but I would reshape the nebula to seem more natural. 4. I used filters for the stars and nebula then colored the nebula using an assortment of different brushes.

Movie Poster

1. The goal of this project was to combine many single photos and using technicals skills make them into one cohesive movie poster. 2.I use Star Wars specific font to match the movie idea. I used mostly dark themes and shadows to match the Sith vibe of the movie. 3.One thing I did good on was the shadows and extra fixtures to make the dark theme. I would redo the character poses and make a bigger variety. 4. I used many layers and the erase tool, as well as layer masks to make effective shadows and darken things

Conclusion

This year I learned how to use design skills like color, typography, and layout to create better designs. At the beginning, I struggled with backrounds, but I improved by making smaller subjects and bigger more intruding backrounds. I am most proud of The Haunted House because it shows my growth as a designer. In the future, I want to improve my skills in Illustrator and learn more about coloring efficiently. I am also interested in possibly pursuing drawling or penciling comics as a career or hobby. Overall, this class helped me become more confident in my creativity and my ability to communicate ideas through design.
