The competencies define what great looks like and the competency questions in the guides are how we bring that to life in the interview.
Each question in your guide is intentionally mapped to a specific competency, creating a consistent, structured way to evaluate the behaviors that matter most to our brand.
Think of it this way:
The competency within the candidate is the target, the question is the tool you use to uncover it. So when you ask a question, listen for evidence of that competency in their response.

RESPONSE 1
“There was a time I was working toward a deadline and had a lot to get through. I knew I could move faster by just completing things quickly, but I tried to slow down and be more thoughtful in my approach. I made sure I double-checked my work to avoid mistakes. It took a little more time but everything turned out well."
"Toward the end of a month, I was slightly behind on my membership target and had a few prospects who weren't fully bought in. I could have pushed for a quick close, but instead I took time to understand their goals, walk them through the value, and address their hesitations. It delayed the sale, but I wanted to make sure it was the right fit. I still hit my target, and those members stayed engaged. For me, choosing the right way meant focusing on long-term value, which ultimately drove better results."

RESPONSE 1
Notice how Response 1 shows clear ownership of a goal, makes an intentional choice between speed and quality, and ties actions to measurable, meaningful results. This is what Excel with Results looks like when put into practice. If you were thinking Response 2, it's not fully wrong! It shows good intent and attention to quality...but it stops at effort.
It doesn’t demonstrate the same level of urgency, accountability, or impact.
