Shorter Australia, a continent-country in Oceania, is a vast territory characterized by diverse landscapes: arid deserts, rainforests, immense beaches, and dynamic cities like Sydney and Melbourne. A land of contrasts, it is home to unique wildlife (kangaroos, koalas) and a rich culture, shaped by Aboriginal heritage and a multicultural society. Between modernity and unspoiled nature, Australia captivates with its free spirit and commitment to a sustainable future.

1. 65,000 years ago: The Aboriginal people, the first inhabitants A millennia-old civilization settled in harmony with nature. Their culture, linked to the Dreaming, is one of the oldest in the world. 2. 1788: British colonization The British arrived with the First Fleet and established a penal colony in Sydney. Conflicts, disease, and massacres decimated the Aboriginal people. 3. 1901: Birth of modern Australia The colonies united to form the Commonwealth of Australia, but Aboriginal people were excluded from civil rights. 4. 1967: A turning point A referendum finally granted Aboriginal people the right to be counted and allowed the government to legislate on their behalf. 5. 2008: The Apology Prime Minister Kevin Rudd issues a formal apology for the Stolen Generations (Aboriginal children forcibly removed from their families). Today, Australia remains a land of contrasts: between economic prosperity, climate challenges, and struggles for social justice.
