UNITED NATIONS
HISTORY
The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently made up of 193 Member States, the UN and its work are guided by the purposes and principles contained in its founding Charter.
As World War II was about to end in 1945, representatives of 50 countries gathered at the United Nations Conference on International Organization in San Francisco, California from 25 April to 26 June 1945. For the next two months, they proceeded to draft and then sign the UN Charter.

The United Nations Secretariat
The Secretary-General is Chief Administrative Officer of the UN. The current Secretary-General, and the 9th occupant of the post, is António Guterres of Portugal, who took office on 1 January 2017. On the 18th of June, 2021, Guterres was re-appointed to a second term.
NATO
NATO is an alliance of countries from Europe and North America. It provides a unique link between these two continents, enabling its members on both sides of the Atlantic to consult and cooperate in the field of defence and security, stand in solidarity and deter aggression from potential adversaries, and conduct multinational crisis management operations together.

On april 4 1949 12 countries signed the North Atlantic Treaty
NATO’s purpose is to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means.

POLITICAL – NATO promotes democratic values and provides a permanent structure for its members to consult and cooperate on defence and security-related issues. MILITARY – NATO is committed to the peaceful resolution of disputes.
The bedrock commitment at the core of NATO is that an attack against one of its members is considered as an attack against all.
NATO works with many non-member countries, called NATO partners, on a wide range of political and security-related issues. These countries pursue dialogue and practical cooperation with NATO and many contribute to NATO-led operations and missions.
NATO Allies are increasing their defence investments, developing the capabilities required to maintain NATO’s military edge in a changing security environment.
