What is the MTSS App?

The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) has expanded the DataZone ecosystem with the MTSS Interventions app, a centralized tool that enables districts and school sites to plan, run, and monitor Tier 1–3 interventions using consistent, data‑informed practices.

Built on SCCOE’s Integrated Data Systems, the MTSS app connects directly to student groups created in K‑12 Analytics or SMART and allows teams to track goals, participation, and outcomes in one secure environment.

Accessing the MTSS App

If you are interested in enabling the MTSS app for your district, please reach out to your DataZone Engagement Lead for options. Once the app is enabled, you can find it on the DataZone landing page.

Goals

Overview

You can assign facilitators to each intervention. Facilitators are staff who will be running the intervention and can add notes and observations. They can monitor metrics for all students in their intervention.

You can set up one or multiple goals for each intervention. Standard goals include measures that are already predefined and available in DataZone. You could also set up custom goals, where you can record a goal of your choice.

This page is where you will enter information like:

  • name
  • area/domain
  • description
  • tags
  • funding source
  • start & end dates
  • attendance tracking
  • tier level
  • school sites participating
  • students assigned

The Intervention Progress will provide an overview with any recorded observations.

Click to proceed

Bulk Progress allows you to update progress for multiple students at once.

Once on the Interventions tab, you can select a specific intervention to look at it in more detail.

The Student Participation tab will show all students in the intervention and their status. You can view individual student's profiles by clicking on their student ID.
