Visual Literacy
Visual literacy is ability to interpret and create meaning from visual information. We can use this in school to help us understand diagrams faster, improve presentations, and to work with design principles.
We have used visual literacy many times in this class. For example, choosing images, colors, using design principles like CARP, and making sure visuals match the message we are sharing.
CRAAP
CRAAP helps you avoid using fake or unreliable information. You can use this tool in many different cases like picking strong souces in school and situations like avoiding scams or fake websites in real life.
We used CRAAP in class as a main component of design project 1, content curration. We had to find many reliable sources to base our project on.
Information Literacy
What is it?
- Ability to find, evaluate, understand information effectively
When we will use it
In class
- We used this in class to find relaible sources to use. We have to examine and find the best result, not just the first one.
- To protect you from misinformation, helps you make better choices in everyday life
Objectives
Objectives are specific, measureable goals that describe what a learner should be able to do by the end of the presentation. Objectives can be used in everyday life as a way to stay focused, organized and sucessful. It can help you by having clear goals on what you want to accomplish.
An in class example of this is when I use the chapter objectives to study for a quiz.
Critical thinking
Critical thinking is the abaility to analyze information, question it, and make logical choices instead of just immediately accepting things. I will be able to use this in my future career to make smart decisoons on patient care and improving my understanding of topics.
We used critical thinking in this class to reflection on our drafts of our projects so we could write stronger presentations
Conclusion
In this course, I learned many key skills like setting clear objectives, evaluating sources with information literacy, and understanding visuals through visual literacy. These skills helped me become a better learner, and will be very useful in my future.
Trick:
Interactivity is the key element to capture your students' interest and attention. A genially is interactive because your group explores and interacts with it.
