The Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Strom Damage Risk Reduction System

To help combat future flooding in the city, New Orleans has created the Greater New Orleans Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System. This system helps find where previous flood systems fail and improve them. For example, researchers found that old levees did not withstand large floods. Engineers have also found data supporting rerouting the Mississippi to move more sediment and create a better defense.

Jakarta, Indonesia

Jakarta, Indonesia, has similar problems to New Orleans. They have constant flooding due to climate change. Up to 40% is of Jakarta is under sea level and is estimated to be uninhabitable by 2050.
