History
When the Westminster palace was underdoing a transformation afire devastates a part of the parliament in 1834. Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin lead the construction of a new strong, gothic ang majesty structure. The Big Ben.
the tower and the clock
Characteristics of gothic civil architecture of the Middle Ages. Symbolize autonomy of civil power. The shape has many elements with italian inspiration.
The clock has four faces on each suface of seven meters in diameters with a 13.5 tones heavy bell. Under each face there is a latine inscription for the queen Victoria.
Big ben's bell
The first bell: in 1856 Crack a few month after the instalation The seconde bell: in 1858 Ring for the first time on May 31 1859

Every years a thousand of tourist visit Big Ben and listen the bell ring. The location of the clock open into the Thames and a beautiful view of London by day as by night
