Equipment set up and organization

  • It is important that you keep tools and parts organized, labeled, and easy to access
  • Heavy equipment should be secured properly to avoid it shifting or moving while driving
  • Inventory is tracked and checked regularly to avoid overstocking or misplaced items

Routine maintenance

  • Planned routine maintenance helps prevent breakdowns and costly repairs
  • You should report or address any issues you notice immediately, like oil levels, windshield washer fluid, tire pressure, or any warning lights
  • If something seems "off" with your vehicle, reach out to the Facilities Admin and let them know before driving the vehicle or continuing to
  • Additionally, vehicles have problems over time. Report anything like bumper dents, broken parts in the cab, windshield damage or surface damage immediately

Cleanliness and appearance

  • This van represents the company van when in the community
  • Clean vehicles help build Guest trust
  • You should regularly wash the vehicle when needed
  • Additionally, clean the cab at the end of your shift, including throwing out trash or removing clutter
  • The cab should be presentable at all times
  • Organize and safely store equipment

Safety and Compliance

  • There are safety requirements you should maintain while in possession of the vehicle
  • It is expected that you wear your seatbelt at all times and practice safe driving procedures
  • Equipment, trash, or other potential items that can move around while driving must be secured
  • Maintain safety equipment in the vehicle, such as the fire extinguisher or first aid kit

inventory & restocking

  • It is important to ensure you have the common parts or equipment pieces when visiting a location
  • It is important not to overstock your truck.
    • The longer it sits on your vehicle, the more likely you are to accidentally break it
    • Another tech may need that part, but can't easily get it from you
  • When you are at the DC, stock up on common items or parts you know you need for a work order - but don't overdo it

fuel and cost management

  • Use your WEX fuel card when filling up your vehicle
  • Ensure you are using the correct type of fuel - Biscuitville has both diesel and gas-powered vehicles
  • While not required, it is a good practice to use fueling stations that offer lower prices
  • Plan your route for each day to optimize your time and reduce mileage

personal use & policy awareness

  • You are responsible for following any policies around company vehicles, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook and Facilities Vehicle Policies
  • Remember:
    • Do not have unauthorized passengers or animals
    • No smoking in the vehicle
    • No Biscuitville prohibited items
    • Do not use the vehicle for personal use
    • You must be clocked in while driving
    • Follow all traffic laws
  • Failure to follow company policies can result in disciplinary action that can be up to or include termination

Moving parts

  • When moving
  • Technicians must always be clocked in while driving a company vehicle
  • Driving a company vehicle outside of working hours or while off the clock is strictly prohibited
  • No non-employee passenger or driver (this includes people and animals)
  • Employees need to self-report any infractions or concerns with their license that could impact driving a Biscuitville vehicle
  • All Biscuitville vehicles are equipped with cameras for safety and accountability purposes
  • Cameras are mounted to monitor both traffic and cab activity inside the vehicles, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company policies
  • Any footage may be reviewed by management if necessary
  • Vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking, including location and speedometer monitoring
  • Smoking of any kind, including tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaping, is strictly prohibited inside Biscuitville company vehicles, including while driving, parked, or in the back of the van
  • Maintaining a clean, smoke-free environment is essential to the safety and health of all employees and for the upkeep of the vehicle
  • Technicians are responsible for the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the vehicle while in use
  • Always follow all traffic laws and drive responsibly
  • Any traffic violations or damages caused due to negligence will be reported and may result in disciplinary action
