A presentation on Environmental science and climate research by guest lecturer ;Dr Baxter On the 07.11.202 from 9am until 12pm (3 hours) we listened to a presentation by Guest lecturer Dr Baxter, Durham University on “Environmental science” and “climate research in Arctic” and then were given the opportunity to ask questions about Environmental science and climate research and have a group discussion.
National horizon centre: I took part in a covid vaccine task force work experience on (June 8th 2023)
Guest lecturer Dr Chris Ennis, Teesside University: On the 12.12.2023 at 9am until 3.00pm (6 hours) we had a Guest lecturer called Dr Chris Ennis from Teesside University. He presented a presentation on: "Climate change and our future" & talked about "Careers in Chemistry"
Women in STEM Event at Cummins and A tour of their facilities: On International Women’s Day, A group of girls and young women were invited from the local college's science & engineering departments to attend an event held at Cummins facilities by staff at Cummins, to promote women in STEM. We had the chance to see and hear from the Mayor of Darlington, who had sponsored the event.
Newcastle life science centre: We spent the day exploring the wonders of the scientific displays & activities. While at the life science centre, we were taught how to carry out DNA gel electrophoresis. we also visited the planetarian and learnt about space
"We Are Wild," Forest School: As a student in my college's health and childcare department; I went on a visit to the "We are wild" Forest School in Croft-on-Tees. It gave me some insight into how Forest Schools operate and the ethos behind them. I saw how children in these schools are given the opportunity to learn about the environment, solve problems, work with other children, and develop the skills to handle risks.
One afternoon while studying a level one qualification in understanding mental health as a part of the health and childcare department at my local college; I took part in a workshop where I learnt a basic level of understanding of British sign language from a woman who actively communicates with her mother who is a part of the deaf community.

During October half term of 2022, I was a part of a space themed stem workshop where we worked as a group of peers from other schools & colleges to work together to design a sustainable habitat on Mars. There were workshops on coding, 3d-design,importance of emotional and mental well-being of astronauts in space etc…
During secondary school, I was a part of a young carers group that went on trips to give children and young people, (who are carers for others in their family) opportunities to do fun activities and trips. I loved to go on trips with young carers as I got to discover new things during activities and experiences. I also met new people & made friends. I made lots of fun memories during the trips and adventures.

Royal British Legion's poppy appeal charity bake sale! My friend Amelia & I organised & ran a bake sale to raise money for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal in front of our secondary school's library. After the bake sale, we were mentioned on the school website. We raised £75.87
Year 10 work experience at scope; Autumn term 2018
In year 10, I was a volunteer at a charity shop called Scope. It is a charity shop that raises money for people with disabilities. I was taught how to run and manage a charity shop. Developed retail based skills like Tagging and un-tagging, store organisation, checking out a customer, application of pricing to items etc…
Year 11 Career's fair trip in Newcastle: On Wednesday the 18th of September 2019 a group of year 11’s and I went to a Careers event that was held in Newcastle. During the event, you had the opportunity to have your hair curled or plaited. My friend Amelia and I got our hair curled. We got glitter on our faces as well.
In secondary school I took part in a youth theatre group every Tuesday after school in the youth centre next to my school. We would learn different drama techniques, develop friendships with a diverse group of people which we may have never met or hung out with, do arts and crafts to prepare for a big themed performance at the end of every term. Every term I would take part in a themed performance with my group on the same day as the other fuse theatre groups. On the performance day we showcased our performance in front of the other Fuse Theatre groups in North Yorkshire and a handful of parents who were able to travel to the centralised performance location. It helped me to develop confidence. I also learned how to express myself through drama.
