The educational predicament of rural girls

For many rural girls in China, the chance to go to school, stay in school, and change their future through education is deeply affected by gender.
Family expectations, local traditions, and everyday responsibilities all shape who gets to learn, and who does not.
In many cases, these girls are asked to give up their education for the sake of family, labour, or marriage.

WE NEED YOUR VOICE
Some girls want to study, but they are first shut out. What she lacks might not be a dream. It's just an opportunity to be seen. Now, please join us in speaking up for rural girls. Like, share this content and add #LetHerLearn to make "She should read" seen by more people. If you have books you no longer need, please consider donating them. A book you have finished reading could become another girl’s first step toward a bigger world. Don't let her dream stay in the mountains. #LetHerLearn
Reality Note
In many areas, the junior high school stage is often a period when rural girls are most likely to drop out of school.
Early marriage pressure, family economic pressure, and the notion that "girls' education is useless", often pile up together at this age.

Reality Note
Many rural girls in China have been undertaking far more unpaid household chores than boys from a very young age.
Their study time doesn't simply disappear on its own. Instead, it is gradually squeezed out through meals, piles of laundry, and repeated phrases like "You are the elder sister".

Helpless choice
You chose to turn to the volunteer teacher for help, hoping for a chance to get out of the mountains.
However, your destiny cannot be changed according to your own will. Although the village secretary suggested that you could avoid paying tuition fees. Despite the persuasion of the volunteer teacher, your parents are still not very willing to let you continue your studies. They don't want to lose a family's labor force. You feel very helpless.

Please make your choice
A. Feeling extremely unfair, you plan to say it out at the dinner table tonight and ask your parents to send you to school.
B. You clearly know that you are just a child and can't change anything, so you can only remain silent.
