A Moon Phases Adventure
Location: A space observation station orbiting Earth with a clear view of the Moon’s changing phases

Start

You arrive at a space station orbiting Earth. Outside the window, the Moon slowly changes shape as it moves through space. A message from Ari Raider comes through: Adventurer, the Professor has hidden a specimen somewhere in orbit. To recover it, you must understand how the Moon’s appearance changes over time. Watch carefully. The Moon may look different, but it’s always there.

Your mission is to outsmart the Professor and recover the missing specimen. To succeed, you must identify the Moon’s phases and understand why they change. Discover, identify, and collect them all.

KNOWLEDGE The Moon does not produce its own light; it reflects light from the Sun The Moon’s phases are caused by its position relative to Earth and the Sun The Moon goes through a cycle of phases about once a month We see different parts of the Moon lit as it orbits Earth The main phases include new moon, full moon, and phases in between

You look out and see only a small curved part of the Moon lit up. A container floats near the observation window. To move forward, you must understand the early phases of the Moon.

The container unlocks as the Moon shifts. You’ve observed the beginning of the cycle. But the Moon continues to change.

You now see half of the Moon lit up. The other half is in shadow. Another container drifts nearby. To continue, you must understand how the Moon reaches this phase.

The station rotates as the container unlocks. You’ve seen the Moon halfway through its cycle. But one final phase remains.

The Moon now appears fully lit. Its entire face glows brightly against the darkness of space. A final container waits. To complete your mission, you must understand how the full Moon forms.

One by one, the locks release. The container begins to open. Inside, the specimen is revealed. You’ve done it. You’ve uncovered the cycle of the Moon. Stand by, adventurer. Identification in progress.

GREAT JOB, ADVENTURER You’ve recovered Moon Rock! Continue your mission to discover, identify, and collect them all by completing more adventures. The rarest specimens are hidden in real digs, waiting for true adventurers to find them at ExcavatingAdventures.com.
