The STAAR is an online exam that students in the state of Texas enrolled in grades 3-11 have to take in their mathematics, science, social studies and english subjects. The test is meant to measure student growth in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skill (TEKS).
The assessment has an allowable testing time of seven hours, with students typically finishing after four hours, and those who finish before the released time must wait for the vast majority of their peers to be done, causing disconent with the overall exam and its setup.

Also, the essay was just a bit too much because once you start going, you have a limited space on how many words you can use. "-freshman Sophia Alvarado Bustillos
"Personally, I like to go on the class websites and take the past STAAR tests and use those practice questions to see my score and what I need to work on. -freshman Pedro Medeles Rodriguez
"I think it's a good system, but I don't think it works well in high school because we already have so many tests and essays, and those already do the same job that the STAAR does. "-sophomore Arjan Shokar
