Explanation of B.c. A.d. b.c.e. and c.e.

- B.C. stands for Before Christ and are the years that come before year 1- A.D. stands for Anno Domini and are the years that come after year 1 - B.C.E. stands for Before Common Era and means the same as B.C. - C.E. stands for Common Era and means the same as A.D.

B.C. = B.C.E and A.D. = C.E.

concept 1- scaffolding

Contextualize your topic

.By using scaffolding you help the students learn by giving them step by step support. We will use scaffolding by first showing students how to do it, then we practice together, and then they try it on their own. This helps all students understand before working independently. can be easily shown with this statement: I do → teacher shows We do → class helps You do → students try

concept 2-culturally responsive teaching

We utilized culturally responsive teaching by using typical common interests (Lei & Bines, 2011) among 5th graders. For instance, the hook included an example about dinosaurs to get the students interested. We also included emoji images on slides.

What we've learned

ways that you can teach a complecated and difficult topics for students to learn by keeping the slides simple and easy that way they are distracted by crazy visuals that could be overstimulation for 5th graders. Then again this is for 5th grade students who are a little more mature and want some fun with it and some more serious. Each student learns different so it may be easier to give a basic introduction to this topic first, then be able to start other activites.
