4:02 am: The water they thought was cooling the core was leaking through the valve looseing 32,000 gallons of water
4:01 am: valve becomes stuck with no light to alert the control room it goes unnoticed
March 28th, 1979 Diseaster hits at TMI-2
6:00 am: The issue goes unnoticed and the core sits without its proper water levels for 2 hours which it then starts melting down
4:02 am: Control room sees that the emergancy water pipes had activated but thinking water was being sent already turned it off
4:00 am: Main feedwater pipe fails which then valve opens to relive pressure in the core

While shut off in 2019 due to no one buying the enegry produced, not long after in 2024, Microsoft argeed to purchace the energy as of 2026 plans are underway to get the plant up and on by 2028.
Today, TMI-2 still marks a turn in nuclear power saftey and just goes to show how important proper managment can be at all levels to keep delicate jobs such as nuclear power, safe.
Clean up of the TMI-2 starts. Due to the nature of radioactive matirals and there despotion its an extremely long procces. It took 6 years alone to be able to get in and actually remove the melted core due to the prep time needed.

TMI-2 takes much longer to complete than TMI-1, facing major delays and going over budget. In order to start making a profit the TMI-2 is opened despite issues still present. In fact, they even falsifted operation data to hid that the TMI-2 was faulty in preformance which could of meant work had to be done, pushing delays even further.

Coolant water from the plant is discharged into the Susquehanna river. While the water was slightly radioactive, it was harmless. However, its release was not told to any of the communitys around the water ways.

TMI-2 starts its construction. While TMI-1 is built on the northern end of the Island, TMI-2 is built on the south end. Both stations are built on the island as there placement allows them to directly use the water from the Susquehanna to operate.

With the building up of gases, A supervioser tries to move them to there decay tanks. They knew very well that if they did try to move it, much of it would leak out into the enviorment but they did it anyway, all without telling anyone else about the transfer. This lead to 2.5 million curies to be released, much of it filled with Xenom and Krypton.

As the gases were released, It was picked up a messured at 1200 millirem per hour. Hours later when a confernce was the news was held, The press asked for information on this. Not knowing about the gas release the Vice president of Met Ed. responded defensivly and proclamied that they didnt need to tell them every piece of detail. This completely broke the already shaky trust of the public.

The main cleaning operation of TMI-2 is declared complete. Nearly all of the fuel was able to be removed, only 1% of it remaining in some unreachble parts of the reactor. Since then TMI-2 has been in the Post Defueling Monitored Storage stage, meaning it is still to be watched and monitored over.
"Cleanup.." April 15th, 2011
TMI-1 is fully completed and starts construction. It goes on to operate smoothly and generate power for its 40 or so years of operation.
