start!

You are near the top of Mount Everest. 28,000 ft. above sea level, oxygen is decreasing. Your team is physically and emotionally exhausted. There is a storm approaching you. Ahead of you, a climber falls. It appears their leg is broken. Your guide yells out, "We have minutes! Make your choice now!" Make your decision now: will you stay and help the person who's injured, risking death? Or will you leave with the rest of the group?

You chose to stay and help the injured climber. You kneel beside them. As you talk to them, your oxygen tank drops lower. You have minutes left. As you hear them whispering to you, you realize that you know this person. You grew up with them, you know that they have 2 kids at home. Now, you're faced with another decision. Do you share your oxygen tank or preserve the rest of the oxygen for yourself?

You chose to leave the injured climber. You climb past them; you can hear them whispering at you for help. You're several minutes ahead when you hear them yelling at you from behind. You take a closer look at their face, and you know them! You were raised together, and you know that they have 2 kids now. What do you do now? Attempt to carry the person on your back, or leave them be again?

You chose to share your oxygen mask. How generous! Inevitably, the mask is nearly out of oxygen. You can't keep sharing it, or neither of you will survive. Make your decision below. This one is difficult. Do you give your mask to the injured climber, giving them some chance at survival, or keep your oxygen tank, guaranteeing your survival?

You chose to keep your oxygen mask for yourself. It was difficult, but it seems like a smart decision. You begin walking up the mountain. The wind is burning your eyes and nose. It gets harder and harder to breathe. The cold is getting to you, and you're all alone. You have to make another decision. Do you take off your oxygen mask for a minute or two (so you can put on something warm) or leave the mask as is and suffer through the cold?

You chose to carry the climber. Good for you! As you climb the mountain, your oxygen levels are running very low. You have minutes left. Your arms and legs hurt, your eyes burn, and it hurts to breathe from the cold. Now is the time to make a decision. Do you remove the oxygen mask (so you can put something warm on) or keep it on?

You chose to leave the climber again. It was difficult, but it may save your life out here on the mountain. As you carry on up the mountain, the air gets thinner. Your eyes burn from the wind, it's hard to breathe. Now it's time to make a decision. Do you take your mask off (to put something warm on underneath) or leave it on and suffer through the cold?

You died because you ran out of oxygen.

You chose to keep your mask on. Wise choice, the air is too thin to take a breath without choking. You suffer up the mountain. You start to get closer to the group. One of the climbers ahead of you catches a fish in a stream. The guide leaves you with another choice, this one doesn't seem as daunting as the rest. "What do you want to eat?" He yells out. You have a choice between crackers and freeze-dried beef or the fish?

You died because you ate a poisonous fish.

You chose the crackers and freeze-dried beef. Not a very appetizing choice, but it will keep you alive. The group continues upward. You can feel how close you are to the top! Just a few hundred feet. A climber notices an old sign covered in snow. The sign reads, "Dangerous Trail: Take this route to get to the top faster." The guide tells your group to make your choices. Do you follow the shorter trail that's more dangerous, or the safer trail that will take longer?

You chose to stay on the current trail. It will take you longer, but it's much safer. Several of the others go on the short route. With everything else going on, you forgot about the approaching storm, which will hit you in about 30 seconds. You have another decision. Do you huddle to try to protect yourself from the harsh wind and rain? Or, do you take the time to put together your tent and sleeping bag?

You chose to follow the shorter, more dangerous trail. Bold, but it could save you precious time and energy. With everything happening around you, you forgot about the approaching storm. It's about 30 seconds from hitting your group. Up ahead, you notice a cave, which would protect you from the harsh wind and rain. Do you take shelter in the cave? Or huddle up as a group to try and conserve your body warmth?

You chose to use your equipment to fend off the storm. It seemed like a good choice, but the wind picked up your tent while you were inside. In the chaos, your leg broke. Now you face a choice. Do you hobble up the top of the mountain, or ask someone to carry you?

You died because a polar bear ate you.

You chose to huddle up as a group. This was the smartest choice. Conserving body heat is crucial in this situation. You weren't warm, but you survived the storm. Up ahead, you see a clearing with a sign posted. You've reached the top of the mountain! It's time to make your final decision on the trail. Do you stop to take a picture, or go right back down the trail?

You died because you slipped off the mountain.

Congratulations! You've completed the once-in-a-lifetime achievement of climbing Mount Everest, and you survived. Good for you!

Try again

You died because the person who carried you up the mountain was jealous that you beat them. They pushed you off.
