the box epidemic
THIS IS YOUR REPORT: Hey, Rookie! Get your head in the game; we have a mission going on! There is a serious problem here in New York. A box epidemic. I know, it sounds silly, but it's true. All over New York, there's been reports of these random box sightings. Unlabeled boxes ranging in size, color, and shape right on New York streets and outside apartment doors. But here's where it gets weird. There's one that just showed up outside the precinct. I know, I know. Don't act so shell-shocked. I need you to do some research; figure out what's the deal with all these boxes before we open the one over at the station. I mean, yeah, some New Yorkers have reported... dangerous side-effects to opening the mysterious boxes, BUT what are the chances it's good?! Maybe some cash? Oh, who knows? Go figure out what we should do if you want to be a REAL detective one day. -Sgt. Fluffman

I just can't get behind this whole box thing.
Wendy, you need to suck it up. Daniel isn't coming back. We need to forget the box.
Continue
...Forget it? How could I? He was my brother.
I know, Wendy, but all this stress is doing no good to your heart...
...Maybe you're right.
Of course I am. Come on, come drink some more.
Pay attention to what they're saying; it may help us later on.
Spy carefully
Do you hear those two? Oh, I feel so bad for that woman.
Well, that's what you get when you open a mysterious box.
You think so? I hope she finds her brother. I'll never open an unknown box. I couldn't bear not having you by my side...
Continue
Me, either. The risk is too much. I hope she finds her brother, too.
Pay attention to what they're saying; it may help us later on.
Speak to him
Oh, look here. A detective out on the streets, actually doing work? Color me shocked.
C Punch him in his teeth
B "Sir, back up."
A "Can I help you?"
Back up, sir.
Back up? Oh, now all of the sudden you want some space? Well, guess who doesn't have space?! US! New Yorkers, because of all these damn boxes everywhere!
C "I don't have to tell you anything."
B "What, you think I put them there?"
A "I know what you mean, and I'm on the case."
Can I help you, sir?
Oh yeah, you can help me, alright. You can help me figure out why the Hell there's boxes all over the freakin' city!
C "I don't have to tell you anything."
B "What, you think I put them there?"
A "I know what you mean, and I'm on the case."
Second question
I didn't put them there.
I know you didn't put it there, genius! But you're a detective, right? Doing NOTHING for this epidemic. You know something? My dumb, annoying neighbor got a box on his porch last week, and y'know what happened?
C "I don't really care."

C "I hate the boxes, too."
B "What if you got the 12 grand instead?"
A "Maybe you hate them because you're emotional."
Well, maybe you'll get a random box with 12 grand, too.
Oh, really? Maybe me, huh? Well, guess what? It doesn't change the fact that this epidemic SUCKS and you guys aren't doing JACK!

Hey, man! Heard you got assigned the box case, congratulations! I know you'll miss your favorite partner, but I'm out sick this week. Still doesn't mean I can't help, right? So, listen. I know this girl from High School, Jessica Mendez. She hangs out at a divebar on 8th and Mango. Last week she was posting about her brother going missing two days after she opened a mysterious box at her door... rough stuff. Maybe she can help with your case. I also sent over a file you may wanna look at. You're welcome for the clearence, by the way. Oh, you're going to need a password for the divebar, but... you'll know what it is. Come on, PARTNER INTUITION!!!!! See ya later -Det. Jacks
Wow, this is some real credibility. FBI document, then a published journalist? Hey, maybe this box thing isn't so bad. I mean, the data shows positive results, right? Well... some positive results.

You leave the bar with your information. It seems like this is getting deeper, and sadder, than you originally thought... that poor woman's brother.
As you're lost in thought, you barely realize the looming presence of someone behind you... someone's following you.
But, you're still not convinced...After all, that was some sob story, some personal account. Like Jacks said, you can't get distracted! Facts and stuff only, right...?
Go ahead
