do NOT click the red button..
What happened to Rue?
her addiction didn't come from just anywhere...
What does this mean?
Her reason for staying clean
Her father passed
Rue isn't healing for herself She's carrying pain she never processed or had support with Not only is her recovery unstable, she is in survival mode.
Rue has no interest in staying clean for herself, it's mainly to keep the people around her happy "I don't stay clean to stay alive, I stay clean to make my moma and sister happy."
Her dad was the person she confided in and trusted most, losing him hurt her a lot
Why does she keep using?
If she knows its harmful..why continue?
The pain she feels doesn't jsut disappear. After losing her father she never fully processed her grief
"Drugs are the only thing that make me feel ok" Drugs arent the problem, theyre the escape. She uses them to numb the emotions she doesnt know how to handle. This is what makes addiction more than just a choice
"Research shows addiction is linked to trauma and emotional distress."
Is it just a choice?
some think the answer is yes
She knows the consequences and continues using anyway
However..that only ignores what led her there
Trauma, grief, and lack of support shape her behavior
Her choices don't happen in isolation
Addiction isn't just about making bad choices. its shaped by pain, and lack of support. Understanding this can change how we respond to people who are struggling. Look deeper before making assumptions
