Collaborative Story & Green Manifesto: Filling the Green Battery

How Does it Work?

Title: Collaborative Story & Green Manifesto: Filling the Green Battery Goal: To create a shared digital book where students use Basic Skills to solve environmental crises in the Land of Oz.

How Does it Work?

Activity Description: Our story consists of 8 Chapters. The coordinator school will provide the Intro (Chapter 1) and the Grand Finale (Chapter 8). The 6 partner schools will each provide the 7 Green Solutions needed to save the Emerald City. Each chapter focuses on a specific Key Skill: Literacy: Expressing complex ideas clearly and using strong verbs. Citizenship: Reflecting on ethical dilemmas, advocacy, and social responsibility. Digital: Contributing content to shared platforms efficiently. Numeracy & Science: Using mathematical thinking and scientific inquiry to solve problems.

Chapter 1: The Gray Warning (Korgeneral Enver Akoğlu SS-Arzu's Team)

The Scene: Oz-Bot (AI Guardian) flickers on a giant screen. The Emerald City’s famous green glow is fading into a dull gray. • Key Skill – Literacy: "Expressing complex ideas clearly, concisely, and using strong verbs." • Action: Students will write the introduction, describing the problem and the urgent call for help from Oz-Bot (the AI guardian), using powerful descriptive language. • The Problem: The "Green Battery" is at 5%.

Chapter 1: The Gray Warning

by Korgeneral Enver Akoğlu SS -Arzu's Team

Dorothy and her friends stand in the center of the Emerald City and look at the sky.The sky is not green anymore; it turns into a dusty and dull gray. Suddenly, a giant digital screen opens and Oz-Bot, the AI Guardian, appears."Attention everyone! "

Chapter 1: The Gray Warning

by Korgeneral Enver Akoğlu SS -Arzu's Team

The Tin Man points at the screen and shows the Green Battery.

The battery is very low; it flashes a red light at only 5%. Oz-Bot looks at them and says, "Use your Basic Skills to recharge the battery and save our world!"

Chapter 2: Solution 1 - The Leaking Pipes (by Mehmet Azman Çavuş SS -Demet's Team )

The Scene: The Silver River is drying up because of old, cracked pipes under the Yellow Brick Road. • Key Skill – Maths: "Using mathematical thinking to solve daily life problems.." • Action: Students calculate water waste and create a "Drop-by-Drop" rationing plan to save the city’s water supply. • Promise: "We promise to conserve every drop."

Chapter 2: Solution 1 - The Leaking Pipes

by Mehmet Azman Çavuş SS -Demet's Team

Dorothy and her friends walk on the Yellow Brick Road and reach the Silver River. The river is very low, and the beautiful water turns into dry mud.

Chapter 2: Solution 1 - The Leaking Pipes

by Mehmet Azman Çavuş SS -Demet's Team

The Scarecrow looks under the road and finds many old, cracked pipes. "Look! The water leaks from these holes and disappears into the ground," he says. The students act like math experts and measure the water loss immediately. They find that the city loses 500 liters of fresh water every single hour.

Chapter 2: Solution 1 - The Leaking Pipes

by Mehmet Azman Çavuş SS -Demet's Team

The students use their Maths Skills to calculate the total daily waste. "If we fix these 5 main valves, we save 12,000 liters of water every day!" they shout.

Chapter 2: Solution 1 - The Leaking Pipes

by Mehmet Azman Çavuş SS -Demet's Team

With this much water, the city's giant water wheels can turn and create energy again. Everyone smiles and makes a strong promise: "We promise to conserve every drop."

Chapter 3: Solution 2 - Clean Energy (by Görele SS -Gamze's Team )

The Scene: Restoring light to the Emerald City using the sun and wind. • Key Skill – Literacy: "Inquiring about scientific how wind turbines and solar panels work, explaining the scientific transition to clean energy." • Action: Students research solar and wind energy, explaining the scientific transition from fossil fuels to clean power. • Promise: "We promise to use clean energy."

Chapter 3: Solution 2 - Clean Energy

by Görele SS -Gamze's Team

Dorothy and her friends enter the center of the Emerald City, but it is completely dark. The great coal furnaces are empty, and black dust covers the silent factories. The Scarecrow checks the control panel, but there is no power for the city’s lights.

Chapter 3: Solution 2 - Clean Energy

by Görele SS -Gamze's Team

A group of students from Partner 2 arrives with tools and research papers.

They bring colorful solar panels and small, efficient wind turbine models to the square. Using their Science Skills, the students investigate how sunlight and wind creates electricity.

Chapter 3: Solution 2 - Clean Energy

by Görele SS -Gamze's Team

They explain to the citizens how wind turns the turbines to make clean power.

"We must switch from dirty coal to clean, infinite energy," the students advocate. The citizens cheer, and the students make a pledge: "We promise to use the power of the sun and wind."

Chapter 4: Solution 3 - The Plastic Gate (by students classes II A -II B -Marina's Team )

The Scene: The Wicked Witch left behind mountains of plastic bottles that block the city gates. • Key Skill – Digital: "Using digital design tools to create an "Upcycling Machine" that turns plastic into bricks for the city walls." • Action: Students use digital design tools (like Canva or 3D builders) to illustrate how waste is transformed into new city infrastructure. • Promise: "We promise to use clean energy."

Chapter 4: Solution 3 - The Plastic Gate

by Mariasole - Marina'sTeam

The wicked witch has left a lot of plastic bottles on the way to the Land of Oz and it is impossible to reach it. Dorothy and her friends need to find a way to recycle them into bricks

The Scarecrow suggests to find a way to change the plastic bottles into bricks

Chapter 4: Solution 3 - The Plastic Gate

by Emanuele - Marina's Team

First of all, they empty and clean the plastic bottles . After that the Tin Woodman swallows the bottles and shreds them into small pieces like flakes . Soon after Dotothy suggests to put the flakes into an oven which melts them. This hot liquid is pushed into a mold, a metal box in the shape of a brick.

This hot liquid is pushed into a mold, a metal box in the shape of a brick

Chapter 4: Solution 3 - The Plastic Gate

by Nina -Marina'sTeam

The Lion suggests to keep the different boxes into a cold place so that they cool down. Now all the friends are happy because they have the bricks to build a city gate to Oz

We promise to recycle and use clean energy

Chapter 5: Solution 4 - The Parliament of Trees (by IES Escultor Juan de Villanueva - Isabel's & Clara's Teams )

The Scene: The Flying Monkeys are cutting down the "Whispering Woods" to build factories. • Key Skill – • Citizenship: "Reflecting on ethical dilemmas, advocacy, and social responsibility." • Action: "Students organize a democratic assembly. They argue that trees are 'living citizens' of Oz. They vote on a new law: for every factory built, 100 native trees must be planted." • Promise: "We promise to protect the voice of the trees."

Chapter 5: Solution 4 - The Parliament of Trees (by IES Escultor Juan de Villanueva - Isabel's & Clara's Teams )

In Oz, the flying monkeys are deforestating the "Whispering Woods" and building factories Dorothy and all of the city are scared because they are cutting down too many trees.
