According to survey data from the 2023-24 California Healthy Kids Survey, more than half of students in alternative education schools reported current marijuana use (57 percent).

  • 48 percent of alternative education students reported marijuana vaping.
  • Compared to alt-ed programs in the Novato Unified School District (14 percent reporting current marijuana use), 43 percent more Tamalpais Union High School District alt-ed students are currently using marijuana.

According to survey data from the 2023-24 California Healthy Kids Survey, more than four in ten students reported curent alcohol or drug use (42 percent avg between grades 9-12).

According to survey data from the 2023-24 California Healthy Kids Survey, one quarter of Tamalpais Union High School District students reported current tobacco usage (25 percent avg. between grades 9-12).

  • 11 percent of students reported current marijuana vaping.
  • 30 percent of juniors and 39 percent of seniors reported current marijuana use.
  • Countywide, 22 percent of juniors reported marijuana use, 18 percent lower than juniors in the Tamalpais Union High School District.
