key review points
Did you know...
Powering up and shutting down the GreenFeed system correctly is a vital part of ensuring accurate measurements, protecting sensitive equipment, and maintaining reliable system performance.
Did you know that when in sleep mode...
- It reduces power use during short idle periods.
- The unit does not collect data.
- It avoids another 30-minute warm-up after reactivation.
- It was set through the GreenFeed Control Feed App.
- Just prior, the system uploaded unsaved data, which took up to 2 minutes to complete.
- It then stops key functions like fan, pump, RFID, and feed dispensing.
Did you know...
These key points form the foundation for effective daily GreenFeed operation and long-term system reliability.
Did you know to achieve full shutdown...
- Must first place the system in sleep mode using the app, and then shut it down through the app.
- Must wait 30 seconds after shutting down before unplugging power.
- For solar trailer units, must turn the power switch found in the main electrical box to the OFF position.
- Must do so before transporting over long distances or rough terrain.
Important Shut Down Extras
- For pasture trailers with solar, the power switch in the main electrical box should be turned to the OFF position.
- Also, if a GreenFeed unit needs to be moved long distances, especially across rough terrain, it should always be powered down first. Moving the system while it is running can damage sensitive sensors, so shutting it off beforehand is an important step in protecting the equipment.
GreenFeed Free-stall, Tie-stall & Pasture Trailer Units in Use Around the World
This lesson focuses on helping users understand exactly how to power the system on, configure sleep mode, and properly shut down, while also highlighting the reasons these steps are so important.
Did you know that...
- Free stall and tie-stall systems power on by plugging into a 110–220 V, 50–60 Hz AC outlet.
- Power cables must be routed so animals cannot disturb them.
- Pasture trailer systems power on using the switch inside the battery box.
- After startup, allow 30+ mins for sensor warm-up and equilibration, otherwise, early calibrations, CO₂ recoveries, or animal measurements may be invalid.
- Keep the unit powered on or in sleep mode for remote C-Lock access.
- Tie-stall units do not need nightly shutdown.
