A Letter for the Jungles

Dear Earth, I’m writing a letter to you because I care about your majestic jungles and I am worried about what is happening to them. You see, I love exploring them and it is my favourite place to be. I have been learning all about them in school. Each day, I’m noticing that a few things are changing. Sadly, there are some changes I deeply dislike as I know they’re hurting you.

In our world, jungles are fascinating. Birds of all sizes and shapes soar above their trees. I long to join them on an adventure through the soft clouds. They get to see the jungles from so high up! I am stunned by the colours that spill from the sunsets there. I love to hear the sounds of all the animals that have made their homes within these mighty, green canopies.

Despite all this wonder to see and hear in your jungles, things are not all perfect. Trees are being cut down and I’m frightened for the animals that live there. What about their homes? What will they do if their habitats are destroyed? An enormous number of birds, monkeys and snakes have been chased off when machines arrive, even before dawn! This deforestation has left empty, dry patches and each empty patch leaves a hole in my heart. This must hurt you, too.

We are taught to always help others so I want everyone to help you, dear world. We must help our world recover before it’s too late. Tomorrow, I am going to carefully plant seeds to grow new trees so the birds, monkeys and snakes can return and flourish. If only every person would plant a tree for your jungles! Can you imagine the difference that would make? I promise to tell as many people as I can how wonderful your magnificent jungles are, so we can start to mend the mess we have made. With love, Tessa
