William Lloyd Garrison 1. Used his newspaper The Liberator to spread his anti-slavery messages. He wanted to end slavery immediately. 2. The Liberator 3. He grew up poor with little education. Experienced inequalities himself which contributed to his commitment to reform. Frederick Douglass 1. Created a newspaper called The North Star. Powerful speaker and spokesperson for abolitionism. 2. Disguised himself as a sailor and escaped to freedom. 3. His master's wife helped him learn to read at age 10. His master found out and put a stop to it.
