Visual content is a cross-cutting, universal language, like music. We are capable of understanding images from millions of years ago, even from other cultures.
January 2026
Throughout December and January, an expression of interest form was set up for people to join the taskforce. On 18 January, we stopped accepting new members to the taskforce so that our work could progress. During this time, we:
- Received over 3,000 responses to the taskforce – including ideas and people who wanted to contribute more. We've read every idea submitted – over 100!
- Communicated to around 500 people who've joined the taskforce about how they're involved.
- Recruited a panel of 16 people who met regularly from January to March 2026.
- Put together multiple groups of people, who have specialist knowledge, to work alongside the panel, providing their expertise as the panel explores and develops ideas.
- Held briefings calls for the groups of people involved.
December 2025
Our equality and diversity policy changed on 2 December 2025, following the Supreme Court's decision on sex and gender.
For more on the policy change and why we made this decision, read our statement for members.
At the same time, the taskforce was set up to explore opportunities for trans girls and trans women to connect with and be supported by Girlguiding, while operating within our equality and diversity policy.
