MULTICULTURALISM IN LONDON

Bollywood

The statue is dedicated to Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for the film DDLJ, one of the most famous Indian films of all time. It is a powerful symbol for the Indian diaspora and talks about the life of two boys that grew up between two completely different cultures. It is an example of multiculturalism as Indian culture is not only accepted but also celebrated in a public space.

Falun Dafa

It's is a spiritual practice born in China, where it is now persecuted, but which people in London can freely practice in their daily lives. This shows that the city embraces different cultures and allows freedom of expression.

Wall covered with thousands of red hearts near the Thames, each representing a person who has died of COVID in the UK. People of all cultures, religions, and ages are present (which shows how diverse the London community is) and communicates the unity that has existed between all the countries of the world during the pandemic.

Swiss Glockenspiel

The monument represents a match point between cultures: it celebrates the political relationship between England and Switzerland and it’s a classic traditional symbol. The statues depict typical Swiss figures, underneath there are emblems and flags of the cantons.
