A limited HIsTORY of salmonella

First observed in 1880 by Karl Joseph Eberth. He saw them based on specimens collected from patients with typhoid fever. which is why it was formerly named Eberthella typhosa.

In 1884, a man named George Gaffky was able to isolate the bacteria from typhoid patients. Thus confirming Eberth's findings.
