OCLC cloudLibrary ebook and eaudiobook services can provide reading recommendations to your patrons. Your patrons can download ebooks or eaudiobooks directly from the selfCheck to the cloudLibrary app. This is a separate subscription. Use the test button to ensure that titles are being properly received from your ILS's catalog. You should see a return of cover art, the title, and the author.
If you would like for your patrons to print reading recommendations receipts or email the information to themselves, toggle the options on. Make sure that you have set up your email server settings in Network > SMTP Server. You can also add reading recommendations to a check-in/check-out receipt. Please see the module: System Manager>Receipts>Recommended Reads for more information.
Use the test button to test your shelf. It will display the covers, titles, and authors of the items on your recommendations shelf. Have a question about a shelf's content? Contact cloudLibrary.
Creating shelves
You will work with the cloudLibrary team to create shelves of content. Here are some example shelves. Each selfCheck can point to a different shelf and titles based on those categories will be recommended as your patrons check items out or in.
Novelist Select utilizes title recommendations. When your patron checks out an item, the ISBN is recognized from the item record, and similar titles are recommended based on Novelist's database. Only titles that are in your library's catalog will be recommended to your patrons. The first tiers of the Novelist Select like-title recommendation database are constructed with human-created metadata.
This specifies whether bib-level or item-level holds will be used.
Hold Item Identification Type
This specifies which copies are selected to fill the hold (e.g. a single copy only, first available in the system or first available at a specific branch)
