Literacy During this biome, we wrote opinion paragraphs and haikus. We edited our own work and gave feedback to our peers. We made travel destination posters using plural words, adjectives and the five senses to share about a place in Japan that we should visit.
Maths In this biome, we learned about making equal groups by grouping rainforest objects in different ways.
We also explored fractions, learning about halves, thirds, and quarters as fair shares of shapes and sets.
Science We explored different materials and their properties by observing, testing, and recording what we noticed. We compared how materials behaved during simple investigations and used evidence from our tests to explain our ideas.
Social Science We explored the fascinating world of dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals while learning how scientists study the distant past and exploring museums around the world. We discovered what dinosaurs needed to survive, the environments they lived in, and why they became extinct.
Art We learned to shape clay into simple pinch pots and learned about Japanese culture by creating Japanese tea cups. We also drew a rainforest scene with background, foreground and middleground.
Drama Students explored how to use movement, voice and props to act out different roles and represent characters. They will use their creativity and imagination to explore the Japanese rainforest through a range of drama activities and games.

Literacy In this biome, we wrote a short opinion piece explaining which place in Japan we recommend visiting and why. We also wrote and illustrated a traditional haiku inspired by our chosen location.
Maths In this biome, we learned about making equal groups by grouping rainforest objects in different ways.
We also explored fractions, learning about halves, thirds, and quarters as fair shares of shapes and sets.
Science We explored how engineers choose and use different materials to solve real-world problems, inspired by Japanese structures, technology, and design. We learned about material properties, environmental impact, and the engineering design process while building and testing creative prototypes using evidence-based problem solving.
Social Science In this biome, we explored three early Asian civilizations—Jōmon Japan, the Indus Valley, and Ancient China—while learning how historians study the past through artifacts, stories, symbols, and geography. We investigated how rivers, land, and climate shaped where people settled and how they lived, compared daily life in hunter-gatherer and farming societies, and discovered how cooperation, trade, and cultural exchange helped ideas spread across Asia.
Art We created artworks inspired by the rainforest, including a collage that tells the story of a rainforest animal, and a story mask connected to a class text. We built a shoebox rainforest habitat to show how living things interact.
Drama Students explored how to use movement, voice and props to act out different roles and represent characters. They will use their creativity and imagination to explore the Japanese rainforest through a range of drama activities and games.
