What is poetry/poems

A poem is a type of writing that uses words to share ideas, feelings, or a story in a special way.

• Poems can be short or long
• They are written in lines and stanzas
• They often have rhythm or rhyme

The author is the person who wrote the poem or story.

The title is the name of the poem also know as a poet

• It tells us what the poem might be about
• It is usually at the top

A stanza is a group of lines in a poem.

• The lines are grouped together
• It is like a paragraph in a story the differemce is paragraphs are in a story and stanzas are in a poem
