"Fitness is not a destination. It's a way of life."

Introduction

During this class activity, you explore the importance and benfits of fitness. Looking at information such as components of fitness, different exercises, and ways to create your own workout for outside of class. Follow the steps & promepts in order to successfully complete this webquest. Let me know if you have any questions! Below watch this video to get a general idea of fitness as a whole before you move on.

Section 1: Importance & Benefits of Fitness The first section that you will learn about is the importance and benfits of fitness. There will be two articles about the importance and benfits of fitness in the process slide where you can click on the icons to go to the website. Take notes during the articles to help you remember and prepare you for the test questions towards the end. Take notes on paper and turn them in at the end of class. Section 2: Creating Your Own Workout Plan In this section, you will look over three articles with the first one showing exercises, how to create a workout plan, and the final one being a template to give you can idea of what a workout plan could look like. Feel free to pick any exercises, but the exercises should be based on what you are trying to achieve. Strength workouts are less reps while endurance is more reps, then base your exercises of that. You can make a full-body workout or a segment of muscles to work out like arm muscles. Please make your workout plan on paper after your notes. This rubric will allow you to see what you will be graded on at the end of this webquest. You will have finished 5 quiz questions once you have finished reading and taking notes on two articles. Once you have finished those questions and sent your notes to me through email, you will start your workout plan. You get points for each component of the of the workout plan for filling out all 11 exercies with the sets, weight, and reps. Then you will get 20 points for completeing the quiz and sending me your notes as well as your workout plan. 52 total points for this webquest.

HSL 1.3.1.A "Demonstrates the knowledge of the components of physical fitness to achieve and maintain a health-enhancing level of physical activity." HSL 1.3.5.A " Designs and implements a personal fitness and nutrition plan (assessment scores, goals for improvement, plan of activities for improvement, log of activities to reach goals, timeline for improvement)." HSL 1.4.1.A " Employs effective self-management skills to review time commitments (among individual student’s curricular/extracurricular agenda) to identify barriers and modify physical activity and exercise patterns accordingly." HSL 1.4.4.A " Both demonstrates and applies best practices for participating safely in physical activity and exercise (such as injury prevention, proper alignment, hydration, use of equipment, implementation of rules, sun protection)." HSL1.5.1.A "Explains physical health benefits of attaining or exceeding the daily recommended 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity."

Conclusion

Since you have completed all of these activites during this webquest, you have learned why physical activity is important, the benefits of physical activity, and how to create your own workout plan to be physically active. This information is very important not just for PE class, but your future health and the benefits that you could recieve if you continue to work out. I hope you learned the importance of physical activity and how getting more than 60 minutes of physical activity a week will benefit you tremondously. Don't forget to send me your questions, notes, and workout plans through my email. I will try to grade everything I can as soon as possible.
