What is matter?
Matter is anything that has mass and occupies space. Examples: water, air, rocks, people
Gas state
Gases have no fixed shape or volume.They expand to fill any space Example: Air, oxygen, carbon dioxide.
Liquid State
Definite volume but no fixed shape.Flows and takes the shape of its container. Examples: Water, oil, milk.
Solid State
Definite shape and volume.Particles are very close and vibrate in place. Hard to compress. Examples: Ice, wood, metal.
plasma (beyond)
Particles are charged (ions and electrons). Found in stars and lightning. Example: The Sun, fire, lightning.
