“This is your uncle?” Jack had picked up a photograph.
“Yep, that’s him.”
“I know his face. He looks familiar…”
“Hmm, I doubt it, unless you hang out with musty old professors?”
“No, that’s it – Luther Brightspark! Whoa, why didn’t you tell me you’ve got a celebrity uncle?”
Leonora narrowed her eyes at Jack. Then it was her turn to start laughing. Laughing turned into cackling. Cackling became full-on guffawing.
“A celebrity? My uncle? Good one!”
“Couldn’t get me an autograph, could you?”
“No, I really couldn’t.”

Jack looked confused, glanced back at the photo. “Oh… he doesn’t look like this on his TV ads either – the ones with everyone surfing.” The mention of surfing set Leonora right off again. She closed her eyes, savouring the image of her uncle on a surfboard. Brown tie slapping about his face in the breeze. It would pretty much break the dial on the Stupid-O-Graph she was building.
“My uncle’s a genius professor, not a surfer. And we don’t have a TV. He says they turn your brain into custard.”
“Oh, really?” said Jack. “Because I like his Wondersurfer best. Every kid in school has one of those.”
“How – how do you know about my Wondersurfer?”
