Research Support Units
The Research, Development, and Innovation Communication team focuses on disseminating and promoting support activities and R&D&I results across the board. It manages the Area's website, news and current affairs, social media, and internal communication channels related to R&D&I activity. It also provides communication support and dissemination of calls and results to the rest of the Area's services, and collaborates in the production of institutional publications (audiovisual productions, digital publications, and dissemination materials). The team works in close collaboration with the UPC Communication Service.

Promotion, evaluation and monitoring of UPC research projects and groups; research initiation grants (in coordination with the Vice-Rector for Teaching and Research Staff Policy); campuses of excellence and other specific projects; research grants; temporary research staff; relations with CERCA research centers; ethics committee and research dissemination.
UPC Quality. SAQRA-ISO 9001 is the quality assurance system for applied research at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya-BarcelonaTech (UPC). it supports Research Groups in implementing quality standards across the various processes linked to research and technology transfer.The strategic purpose of SAQRA is to provide the entire UPC with a single, integrated quality system within the field of applied research. This aims to maximize the opportunities for UPC research teams to participate in competitive calls and collaborate with organizations, entities, and companies that require such certification.Currently, with the ongoing support of the Research and Transfer Area, Research Groups can certify their quality under ISO 9001 standards by joining SAQRA.

The Scientific-Technical Services (SCT) of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) are the structure responsible for coordinating and supporting the research infrastructures across the campuses, with 91 registered facilities and 1,381 specialized services.They act as a liaison between research groups and central services, offering technical, administrative, and strategic support to improve the quality, visibility, and sustainability of research, in line with institutional policies. Furthermore, they feature a centralized digital tool to facilitate access to their portfolio and actively participate in national and European strategic initiatives that bolster the UPC's international profile.

UPC Philanthropy, Sponsorship and Patronage is the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) structure that supports teaching and research staff (PDI) in raising private funds and establishing strategic collaborations with companies, foundations, and individual donors. We offer personalized advice, strategic guidance, and resources to facilitate the alignment between institutional objectives and the interests of the private sector.We accompany research groups in defining value propositions, designing sponsorship offers, and identifying potential sponsors. We also coordinate the formalization of institutional agreements and visibility and recognition actions for collaborators, always in coordination with legal services and other UPC units. Furthermore, we promote training activities in fundraising and provide tools for monitoring, accountability, and evaluating the impact of patronage actions.

To this end, we budget, analyze, monitor, and process the University's financial data, while providing information, advice, and technical support to the governing and management bodies through the development of regulations and processes that ensure quality and legality.
Comprised of Legal Services and Agreements and Data Protection.
Definition and implementation of the administration and services staff policy, as well as the direction and management of human, administrative, and financial resources related to this group. It also covers the institution's economic policy, including budget management, finance, infrastructure, and heritage. Other responsibilities include occupational health and safety, the organization and structure of administration and service units, the management of certifications, appointments, and registries, as well as fundraising and patronage activities.
The Research and Innovation Support Service performs the functions of promotion, advice, consultancy and research management for R&D&I projects as well as institutional and business collaborations.

The Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia is a non-profit entity that places university research capacity at the service of corporate innovation, based on the knowledge and results of the UPC’s research and technology transfer centres.

The mission of the Communication Service is to develop, coordinate, and implement the University's marketing and communication strategies, platforms, channels, and products, in accordance with the policies of the Steering Council, in order to project the UPC and its activity to society.
This unit belongs to the UPC Staff Department and manages the actions of individuals linked to research activity through calls for applications, competitive selections, grants, etc.
