Today, 80% of the biomolecules (antigens / antibodies) commercialized through VIDAS® Immunoassays are developed internally, while new types of biomolecules (enzymes) have been recently developed for molecular biology and industry products range enabling significant cost savings. Our team regroups accomplished scientists who master cutting-edge technologies encompassing bioinformatics, genetic engineering, structural biology and organic chemistry and is dedicated to the strategic development of high-quality innovative biomolecules crucial for performing IVD and RUO (Research Use Only) assays. Fully committed to implementing new solutions that foster advancements in public healthcare, the team’s main missions are to:
Develop recombinant proteins, peptides, small molecules, antibodies and enzymes
Lead the transfer of R&D biomolecules processes to the manufacturing teams
Conduct complex investigations (taking advantage of our high-tech analytical platform equipment) and provide technical support to the Immunoassays development teams
Define and execute an ambitious road map in order to remain competitive and at the state of the art.

The Prototyping Team focuses on anticipating and analyzing opportunities, as well as simplifying our methodologies. The team serves as the primary point of contact for several key areas:

DEVELOPMENT
The R&D IA Development department is composed of scientific and technical experts in infectious disease, immunochemistry and cellular immunity whose main role is to develop new immunoassay reagents or new generation of existing product to upgrade them to the state of the art in terms of performance or regulations. The group contributes to all phases of design control, from phase 0 to phase 5, in close interaction with the other R&D IA groups and other departments involved in the development of immunoassay reagents. The main missions consist of :
• Providing recommendation on product concept and performances in anticipation of new development, through in deep analysis of state of the art
• Supporting the Intellectual Property department to assess our freedom to operate and protect our business
• Selecting the most appropriate biomolecules
• Optimizing the formulation and components to achieve the best product performance in terms of sensitivity, specificity and accuracy
• Transferring the final design and the knowledge of the product to the industrialization department (IRM), to the R&D Verification group, and to the Clinical Affairs department
• Promoting the products developed through scientific publications and the presentation of posters at congress
• Establishing strategic partnerships to support our product development & leading consortia co-funded by external funding.

Our team excels in VIDAS instrument data management, facilitating data collection and analysis to anticipate problems and support assay development. We provide interdepartmental coordination to deliver accurate data to stakeholders. At the same time, the SISI team develops and maintains IT solutions dedicated to AI R&D, adapted to changes in the sector. Together, we simplify investigations and support innovation in healthcare through efficient data management and responsive IT solutions.

Biobank representative in IA projects
Our team has two main missions to cover the R&D needs :
Supplying human specimens (sera, plasmas, urines, feces,…) for the different phases of immunoassays projects, from the design to the performance of the products and late investigations (= Biobanking).
Organizing and managing external studies on RUO (Research Use Only) and IUO (Investigational Use Only) assays for the purpose of assisting in decision-making during the research and design of products or/and of generating data to support regulatory submissions.
The Biobank team takes in charge of the collaboration with the sites (hospitals, labs, blood banks, etc.) including technical and financial discussions, and the legal and the ethical agreements.

R&D Support team in BSB (bioMerieux Shanghaï), is a small team dedicated to product support in China. This team gathers different skills needed both in development, verification or product support during its lifecycle, as reagent development technical skill, project management, data-sciences, quality and knowledge of product development process.
China is one of the countries where registration of a product is not guaranteed for a lifetime. Depending on the class, it needs to be regularly re-assessed, and resubmitted, with local testings on chosen panels, or to confirm analytical performances as metrological traceability, limit of detection, or some interferences. A dedicated team was maintained after rapid tests discontinuation to make sure that local needs would be properly handled to secure our VIDAS product range. They are currently managing VIDAS kube validation in China, with strong interactions with local regulatory and clinical affairs.
