An American sociologist who argued that female delinquency often resulted from conflicts between individual desires and social expectations, a perspective he outlined in The Unadjusted Girl (1923).
Cesare Lombroso was an Italian criminologist who argued that criminal behavior was largely determined by biological traits and that some individuals were “born criminals” identifiable through physical characteristics.
An Austrian neurologist who developed psychoanalytic theory and argued that unconscious conflicts and early childhood experiences play a major role in shaping human behavior.
