What is Climate justice?

We believe that people have a right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and have energy democracy.Texans are demanding that our legislation make decisions based on these basic human rights.

Oil and Gas

  • Texas has the most Oil and Gas production plant in the U.S.
  • These plants often burn mass amounts of natural gas containing toxic gasses such as methane and hydrogen sulfide
  • Legislation passed in 2025 protects frackers as they sell fossil fuel backwash to water treatment facilities
    • The waste water is then returned to rivers, lakes and streams across Texas
  • This pollution is harmful to the health ofTexas residents

Water infrastructure

  • Texas is a drought-prone state, so water infrastructure is vital to both human and economic survival
  • The Senate (SB7) and House (HB 500) and working together (HJR 7) to invest billions of dollars in water infrastructure as of 2025
  • The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) handles allocations
    • These fund will repair broken pipes and secure better conservation efforts through multiple avenues
  • Going forward, experts warn that Texans need to manage water use better in order to maintain our supply

Climate Change

Texas has experienced severe climate disasters

Extreme winter storms caused the grid failure in 2021

The state proved ineffective during the deadly flooding in Kerrville in 2025

Altogether, Texas emits over 800 million tons of greenhouse gasses each year

Fast Fashion

Fast fashion is an exponential issue that effects all clothing consumers. Thrifting is a fun way to combat fast fashion in a way that is also economically conscious.

10% of CO2 Emissions

87% of textile fibers are incinerate or in landfills

20% of toxic materials in world rivers and seas

20% of global water waste

Set restrictions on pollution output for corporations

Legislative Action

Incentivize individuals and corporations to use renewable energy

Texas has resisted passing bills that counteract climate change despite research stating that Texas is a major contributor to climate disaster

Fund programs that protect at-risk spaces from environmental destruction

Personal Action

Recycle trash, but also any item you can. Reuse items or give them to people that can use them (like thriftig)

Before we can create change on a structural level, let's consider what we can do as individuals to keep the planet clean

Avoid wasting food, water, and energy. One good way to do this is by carpooling or using public transportation

Speak up: contact local representatives, volunteer with clean up organizations
