Il Giappone si trova in Asia orientale, nell’oceano Pacifico, di fronte alla Cina e alla Corea. Non è formato da una sola terra, ma da un arcipelago, cioè un insieme di isole. Le quattro isole principali sono: Honshū (la più grande) Hokkaidō Kyūshū Shikoku La capitale è Tokyo, una delle città più grandi e popolose del mondo.

Il Giappone si trova nella Cintura di Fuoco del Pacifico, una zona con molta attività vulcanica e sismica. Per questo nel paese ci sono molti terremoti ogni anno.
Storia
Uno degli eventi più importanti della storia del Giappone è la Seconda guerra mondiale. Nel 1945 gli Stati Uniti sganciarono due bombe atomiche sulle città di Hiroshima e Nagasaki. Queste esplosioni provocarono una distruzione enorme e moltissime vittime. Dopo la guerra il Giappone si arrese e iniziò un periodo di ricostruzione economica molto veloce. In pochi decenni diventò una delle economie più forti del mondo.

Tre giorni dopo, il 9 agosto 1945, gli Stati Uniti sganciarono una seconda bomba sulla città di Nagasaki.La bomba si chiamava Fat Man. Conseguenze Circa 40.000 persone morirono subito. Alla fine dell’anno le vittime arrivarono a circa 70.000. Dopo questo attacco il Giappone decise di arrendersi, e pochi giorni dopo finì la Seconda guerra mondiale.

Monte FUJI
Il Giappone è un paese molto montuoso e ha molti vulcani. Il più famoso è il Monte Fuji, che è anche la montagna più alta del paese e un simbolo nazionale. Il territorio giapponese si trova nella Cintura di Fuoco del Pacifico, una zona della Terra dove ci sono molte attività vulcaniche e terremoti. Per questo in Giappone i terremoti sono abbastanza frequenti.
