The options Allow Indeterminate Multipart Sets and Show Message When Indeterminate Set Is Detected apply only to libraries that, during the tagging process, tag certain items (media, library of things, kits) as sets (multiple tags per a single item barcode) During the tagging process, there are two options, 1) Set (Every part tagged) and 2) Set (Not every part tagged). If you tagged your sets with the latter option, those items are considered Indeterminate multipart sets and you will need to turn the toggle switch to On to allow the items to be checked out. Further, regardless of how you have tagged your sets, when a patron attempts to check out or check in an incomplete set, a pop up will tell them to take the set to the desk. If you have tagged your items (Every part tagged), that information is encoded on the tag and that is what will tell the selfCheck that the item is a set. For a successful transaction, the tags must all be present. If you have tagged your items as (Not every part tagged - Indeterminate sets), your selfCheck can be set up to 1) Always accept these items with no messaging (turn on Allow button, but leave messaging button off), 2) Always accept with messaging (turn on Allow button and turn on messaging button - a pop up will tell your patrons to check for all items in the set), 3) Always reject the item (turn the Allow button off and turn the messaging button on - your patron will be directed to the desk to check out the item)

Allow Item Check-In = Do you want a Check-in button? Allow Item Check-Out = Do you want a Check-out button? Allow Item Renewals = Do you want a Renew button (for renewing items)

If you set up your selfCheck for Check-out only, there is no home screen with buttons, but it directs your patron to immediately scan their library card

Check-out only

Your selfCheck can be set up to only Check-out or only Check-in. (Reservation Collection is for remoteLockers)

Your patrons will have a home screen with different function buttons to select

Selectable menu

Renewal failure popup options
  • Show separate popup = a new popup for every renewal attempt that fails
  • Always show summary = after each renewal session, a popup shows a list of both successful and failed renewals
  • Show failure summary = At the end of a renewal session, a popup will list any renewals that failed

Toggling the Allow Go Back Button to On will add a Go Back button to your receipt selection screen. This allows your patrons to go back and complete a transaction before getting a receipt.

The Date Time format determines how due dates appear on the screen. Each format has a correpsonding letter (see below). To select a format, enter the corresponding letter in the dialog box.

Single vs. multiple item processing

Libraries that check out items via item barcode will select single item for Check-out item processing and Check-in item processing (if applicable) Libraries that check out items via RFID may select either multiple or single Item processing for check out and check in (if applicable). Multiple item processing allows your patrons to check out multiple RFID items at the same time. If Single item processing is chosen for RFID items, the patron will be directed to present one item at a time.

This only applies to libraries that have a Hybrid selfCheck and use EM security. Turning the toggle for Refer Magnetic Media to Circulation Desk on will ensure that your patrons do not attempt to check out magnetic media items (VHS, cassettes, etc.) on a Hybrid kiosk as the EM security toggle will destroy the item. A pop-up will direct your patron to the desk.

Setting your receipt printer and/or your payment device as a Critical System Component means that if either of these devices go down, your selfCheck will show as out of service. Turn the toggle switch to On next to Receipt Printing Device if you want your selfCheck to only be in service if the receipt printer is working. If the receipt printer fails or runs out of paper and this option is on, the selfCheck will go out of service and a message will be displayed on the screen. If you leave this turned off, then your patron can still use the selfCheck, even if they cannot receive a paper receipt. Turn the toggle switch to On next to Payment Accepting Device if you want your selfCheck to only be in service if the payment device (credit card, cash) is working. If the terminal goes offline or the coin recepter jams, etc. and this option is on, the selfCheck will go out of service and a message will be displayed on the screen. If you leave this turned off, then your patron can still use the selfCheck, even if they cannot make a payment. With the slider, you can choose (in seconds) how often the selfCheck will check back in with the receipt printer to see if it is working so that the selfCheck can go back in service.
