The Jardin des Plantes is a public garden in Toulouse. It is part, along with the Grand Rond and the Jardin Royal, of a group of three public gardens created during the 18th and 19th centuries in the southeast of downtown Toulouse. It is owned by the municipality and managed by the city's Green Spaces department.
history of the garden
The Jardin des Plantes was created in 1794. At the beginning, it was used to study plants and nature. During the Battle of Toulouse, on April 10, 1814, it was used as an artillery point to repel the Anglo-Spanish-Portuguese coalition. In 1887 it became a public garden.Seals, bears, or monkeys inhabited the Garden until 1976, after which only moorhens, ducks, geese, swans or peacocks were found there...
GARDEN ARCHITECTURE
There are a huge number of sculptures and statues in the Jardin des Plantes : -L'Apollon du Belvédère, Jean-François Lorta (1787).-Atalante, Pierre Lepautre (1704).-Hippomène, Guillaume Coustou (1712).-Diane, Alexandre Falguière (1882).-La Femme au paon, Alexandre Falguière (1890). There is too a beautiful fountain.
Why is it my favorite place?
The Jardin des Plantes is my favorite place in Toulouse because it makes me feel calm and happy. When I go there, I really enjoy walking through the park and looking at the trees and flowers. I also like sitting near the lake and watching the ducks.It’s a very peaceful place where I can relax and forget about stress. Sometimes I go there with my friends, and we sit on the grass and talk together.Other times, I like going there alone just to think or enjoy the quiet. I have many good memories in this park.The atmosphere is always very pleasant and relaxing, and on top of that there are lots of squirrels, my favorite animals! Every time I visit, I feel good and peaceful.That’s why the Jardin des Plantes is my favorite place.
The jardin des plantes today
Today, the Jardin des Plantes has also been modernized to welcome more visitors. There are fun attractions, like bumper cars, which are very popular with children and teenagers. The park also has a restaurant and cafés where people can eat or drink something while enjoying the view of the garden. These new facilities make the park more lively and comfortable for visitors. Thanks to this modernization, the Jardin des Plantes is both a place for nature and for entertainment.
