Welcome families! This biome, we have been working on some exciting projects that we would love to share with you!
Literacy In Literacy this biome, we read the beautiful story Grandad's Island, learning how to identify characters and settings. We practiced writing sentences using suffixes, and explored haikus with a focus on word choice and syllables. We also created our own comics depicting the Japanese tea ceremony!
Maths In this biome, we looked at how to make equal groups, as well as organising data with tally charts, pictograms, tables and block diagrams. We also explored the concepts of halves and quarters through fair sharing, confidently explaining our thinking by using maths related vocabulary.
Science In this biome, we became material scientists! We looked closely at everyday objects to answer questions like: why do we use metal for a pot but wool for a sweater? We explored materials, testing their properties (were they waterproof, strong or flexible?) and we observed how some materials (like chocolate!) changed when heated.
Drama Students learned what an actor does, experimented with creating and using props, and practiced being good audience members... We also threw a super fun tea party!
