Addiction

addiction

1) What is an addiction.2)What addiction involves. 3)How to over come an addiction. 4)Why people become addicted. 5)Types of addiction 6)How people fell after addiction.

What is an addiction.

An addiction is a condition in which a person feels a strong and difficult-to-control need toward a substance, a behavior, or an activity. It is not just about “desire”: over time the brain gets used to that thing and begins to consider it almost necessary to feel good or to avoid discomfort.

What addiction involves.

Addictions involve the brain’s reward system, linked to dopamine, which makes us feel pleasure when we do something rewarding. When this mechanism is stimulated too often, the brain can “learn” to constantly seek that sensation. A person with an addiction often continues that behavior even if they know it is causing problems in their health, relationships, or work.

HOW TO OVERCOME AN ADDITION.

Overcoming an addction is a process that requires time, awareness, and often external help. The first step is recognizing that you have a problem, because without this awareness it is difficult to change. the it is important to gradually reduce or stop the behavior or substance that causes the addiction, often with the support of professionals such as psychologists, therapists, or doctors. Useful tools & help can be: as already mentioned before, psychotherapy can be one of these, together with: support groups, changes in daily habits, and the development of new healthier interests. The environment also matters a lot: having people who support the change makes the journey easier. Relapses can happen, but they are part of the process and do not mean that the path has failed.

WHY PEOPLE BECOME ADDICTED

The causes of addiction are complex and usually stem from a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors. Some people have a genetic predisposition that makes them more vulnerable to addictions. The emotional state also plays an important role: stress, anxiety, depression or trauma can push a person to seek relief in substances or behaviors that give immediate pleasure. The environment in which you live influences a lot: growing up in contexts where certain substances or behaviors are common increases the risk. Finally, addictions often start as a way to have fun, escape from problems or feel better, but over time the brain gets used to that source of pleasure and it can become difficult to stop.

TYPES OF ADDICTION

Addictions can mainly be divided into two large categories:Substance addictions and behavioral addictions

  1. The first include substances that change how the brain works, such as alcohol, nicotine, drugs, or some medications.
  2. Behavioral addictions instead concern activities that are not substances themselves but can become compulsive, such as gambling, excessive use of the internet or video games, compulsive shopping, or the use of social
  • In both cases the psychological mechanism is similar: the person feels pleasure or relief in doing that thing and over time loses control over the frequency and intensity of the behavior.

HOW PEOPLE FEEL AFTER AN ADDICTION

After an addiction, many people begin a path to improve their life and regain balance. Recovery can bring benefits to physical and mental health and help rebuild relationships with family and friends. However, the healing process can be long and requires commitment and support. Some people may face difficult moments or the risk of relapse, especially in the early stages. For this reason the support of psychologists, support groups, and close people is very important to maintain the progress achieved.

the DRUG ADDICTION

what is a drug addiction

Drug addiction is a serious problem that affects many people all over the world. Drugs are substances that change the way the brain and body work. Some people start using them out of curiosity, for fun, or to imitate their friends. Over time, however, drug use can turn into an addiction. Addiction means that a person feels a strong need to take the drug and finds it very difficult to stop, even if they know it is harmful to their health.

WHO HAS DRUG ADDICTION

Drug addiction can involve both young people and adults. In many cases people start using drugs to escape from problems, stress, loneliness, or negative emotions. Drug addiction is a serious problem that affects many people all over the world. Drugs are substances that change the way the brain and body work. HOW PEOPLE BECOME ADDICTED TO DRUGS

It becomes an addiction because the brain gets used to the substance. As time passes, the person may need to take more and more of it to feel the same effect as before. This can cause serious problems to health, school or work, and also to relationships with family and friends. For this reason it is very important to talk about drug addiction and ask for help. With the support of doctors, psychologists, family members, and friends, many people manage to overcome addiction and start a healthier life.

AFTER DRUG ADDICTION

After drug addiction, the body and the mind must face a recovery period that can take a long time. With the help of medical treatment, psychological therapy, and rehabilitation programs, many people manage to improve their condition and build a more stable life. However, some consequences of addiction may remain, such as health problems or emotional difficulties. In addition, the temptation to return to drug use may be present, especially in moments of stress. For this reason it is essential to have continuous support and develop new habits and positive goals.

ADDICTION VIDEO

The video shows a small bird that finds a substance that makes it feel a strong sensation of happiness. Every time it takes it, it feels better for a short time, but immediately after it falls lower and lower. The bird keeps looking for it, becoming more and more dependent. This video explains in a simple way how addiction works: at the beginning something seems to make us feel good, but over time it can control our choices and make us lose our freedom. The message is the importance of maintaining control and independence in our decision

'The opposite of addiction is not sobriety, the opposite of addiction is connection'

- Johann Hari.
