How does it connect?
This connects to my journey because cultural diversity and people being from all over the world has always been a special interest of mine. I love learning about my friends and families different cultures and experiences.
Why did I choose this?
This is a picture of my brother and I. I chose this because we grew up together and the things I read, he read and vise versa. Most times, we would play pretend based off of the books we had read.
Why?
This book was read to me as a child to go to sleep. It always reassured me that I had gaurdian angels alwaus watching and protecting over me.
Why?
I have used the diversity icebergre many times throughout my education journey and it has showed me how we cannot assume how a person acts just from the outside appearance, because much happens underneath that shapes them as a person.
How does it connect?
This connects to my literacy journey by being one of the first books I remember genuinely enjoying that wasnt a picture book. It showed me that not all interesting and fun books had to have color and picture because the color and picture can come from my own imagination too.
Why?
This is one of the first books I read by myself. It was my favorite book to read as a kid or to have read to me.
why?
This book was read to us durign class and it really opened my eyes to where people are from more than just location. I chose this book because I think not only is it inspirational but it also reminds me of how my family would sometimes describe where I am from.
How does it connect?
This connects to my literacy jouney because it brought my religion into literacy. I knew of the bible but I was too young to read or understand it, so it helped me better understand parts of the bible and opened up different literacies of my religion other than the bible.
How does this connect?
This connects to my growth in literacy because anytime my brother really liked a book, there was a high chance I would read it too! Our dad read us a lot of the same books and we both talked and collaborated over our love for the books he read us as kids. We helped each other find our love for reading.
How does it connect?
This connects because not only does it relate to real people, but often times it relates to characters in books. We can't always understand a character until we know what else is going on that might be hidden.
P.S: This is not the book but I can't find the one I was read to as a kid!!! It was an angel finger puppet book and I loved it!!
How does this connect?
This book was the gateway to my literacy journey. It was the first book that I figured out how to read, and led me to try to read so many other things!
Why?
This book is one of the first non picture books I read as a kid. This book opened up the world of fantasy other than picture books. This book was a major fixation of mine during my elementary school days.
